Ein Schelm, wer da was Böses denkt.

He must have been quite cunning, Heyno von Brösicke. He liked to switch sides, sometimes to Protestant, sometimes to Catholic, if it was advantageous. He had estates in Havelland, around his manor of Ketzür, in Electoral Saxony and in the Principality of Anhalt. Lastly, he was beverage supplier for the Elector in Brandenburg, cupbearer was a noble affair.

To give his merits the necessary setting, he had the village church next to his property in Ketzür converted into a burial place and commissioned the Magdeburg artist Christoph Dehne to design an epitaph of marble, alabaster and sandstone. Now, despite the extension and enlargement (from the heptagon at the front, with patronage box entrances and hall extension), the church is not very large, but a lot had to go in. Almost the entire family of Heyno von Brösicke is depicted in full-sculpture, half-life-size, praying in front of a scenario depicting the entire history of salvation. Almost, because the unloved son is missing.

At the altarpiece, the figure of Judas is particularly striking in the Last Supper. She is the tallest, holds out her hand and looks extremely similar to Heino. A rogue who thinks something evil.

The furnishings of the entire church leave you speechless at first. Paintings, oversized pulpits, epitaphs, altars, ceiling paintings, patronage boxes are all close together. From the outside, the individual construction phases are easy to recognise, as the building is slightly twisted. On the floor, millions of earth bees, which obviously feel at home here in the sand. All in all, it is worth a short detour. Then a short walk through the village, to the old windmill, a coffee at the Zum Seeblick on the Beetzsee and back past the farm shop of the cidery.

The church is usually locked, but can be visited if you call the pastor beforehand (Hauptstraße 39, 14778 Beetzsee OT Brielow, Tel. +49 33838-40226).
