Herbst in Neuruppin

Das Fontanejahr ist nun schon rum, um den Dichter selbst kommt man in Neuruppin allerdings nicht herum. Überall in Ort erscheint er, als kleine Plastikfigur oder Playmobilversion, mit und ohne Maske. Dabei hat Neuruppin noch andere weltberühmte Persönlichkeiten zu bieten, Baumeister Schinkel kommt von hier und Herr Kühn erfand den Bilderbogen. Eine Vorgängerversion von TV Soap, Spotify und Youtube sozusagen. Bildergeschichten von Prominenten, Weltgeschehen, Aufklärung und Bastelbogen. Hunderttausende der einzelnen Bögen wurden weltweit verkauft. Das Museum im Ort hat eine erkleckliche Sammlung, neben vielen anderen Exponaten der Stadthistorie. Dazu gehört auch die jahrhunderte alte Militärgeschichte und der erfolgreiche Widerstand gegen das Bombodrom der Bundeswehr in der Ruppiner Heide.

Entspannen läßt sich nach so viel Neuem in den netten Cafés und Eisdielen rund um Karl-Marx- und Schinkelstraße mit anschließendem Spaziergang am herbstlichen See.

The Fontane Year is now over, but there is no getting around the poet himself in Neuruppin. Everywhere in town he appears, as a small plastic figure or Playmobil version, with or without a mask. Neuruppin has other world-famous personalities to offer, master builder Schinkel comes from here and Mr. Kühn invented the picture sheet. A predecessor version of TV Soap, Spotify and YouTube, so to speak. Picture stories of celebrities, world events, enlightenment, and craft sheets. Hundreds of thousands of the individual sheets were sold worldwide. The local museum has a considerable collection, among many other exhibits of the city’s history. This includes the centuries-old military history and the successful resistance against the bombodrome of the German Army in the Ruppiner Heide.

After so many new things, you can relax in the nice cafés and ice cream parlors around Karl-Marx- and Schinkelstraße, followed by a walk along the autumnal lake.
